Las Vegas Air Filters

Las Vegas Air Filter

Las Vegas Air Filter

If your Las Vegas home is protected by a one inch air filter, one you can see through, is it really protected? I mean if you can see through it, won’t small particles of dust get through too? Low cost glass fiber filters were good enough for mom and dad’s furnace and central air conditioner, but like most things, the technology has advanced and you should take advantage of it.

Why Upgrade the Air Filter

Exposing you family to unfiltered air increases the likelihood that they will develop or have more episodes of allergies, asthma and other breathing problems. Living in the desert just multiplies these problems.

Regular Air Filters Have Their Limitations

There are one inch pleated filters available that remove up to 50% more indoor air contaminants than the cheap fiber glass versions. This should be a Las Vegas homeowners starting point. They may cost three to five times more than the conventional filter.

HEPA filter media is proven to be 99.97% efficient @ 0.3 microns (a micron is 1/1,000,000 of a meter or 1/25,000th of an inch). Due to their extremely high efficiency, HEPA filters have become widely used in medical, electronic and industrial applications. It is often installed in homes where there are family menbers with extreme alergies.

These units effectively remove bacteria, pollen, animal dander and other pollutants as small as 0.01 microns from the air in your Las Vegas home. The head of a pin is 18,000 microns. The higher the MERV rating, the more efficiently the cleaner removes particles. What is MERV? The Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value is the standard comparison of the efficiency of an air filter. The MERV scale ranges from 1 (least efficient) to 16 (most efficient), and measures a filter’s ability remove particles from 3 to 10 microns in size.
